![]() ![]() "Take this one with you on car trips, use it to replace your TV shows on summer break, whatever.Thankfully I hadn't finished the 2, probably not even played half of it, so play the remake will be more fun. Most of this play fun is going through combats and characters level up. So for me play this remake is a lot like a replay, it's weird I remind so many details after so many years. Party of 4, which is less good than party of 6 as it was with Avernum 1. More hand guided not welcome, I mean pointless quests goals cursors on map, I'm sorry for new players, for me it changes not much because anyway when playing the game I remind a lot of stuff. Different UI, still a weak point but anyway better with the remake. Some new items, but again proportionally it's not much. New graphics sets, clearly better with the remake. There's negative and positive with this change. Ok some new stuff added but it's not much proportionally because it was already a big game. ![]() ![]() The most significant changes from Avernum 1 to this remake are: I don't think most of the stuff is rewritten. I played previous version many years ago, but first parts are very very close, some stuff added but overall it's same stuff, same quests, same or very similar dialogs. I finally enter in playing of this remake. However, it was a while between both tries, so I'm not entirely sure if it was just that the replayability "replenishes" over time with this series when you forget details of the story line or if it was genuine, or a suitable combination of both effects. Both worked well for replayability between the originals and remakes. Myself, I've played through both the original Avernum and this one, as well as half of Avernum 2 and the remake (I'll complete the remake someday this year). However, he has said he might remake Avernums 4-6 after a while if he feels like it, but that would have to wait for some time. If I remember correctly, after that there are no specific plans. Jeff Vogel has remade Avernum 1 and 2 into this one and Avernum 2: Crystal Souls and is planning on making Avadon 3 next and then Avernum 3: Ruined World (remake of Avenrum 3). Story is of course basically the same as before. There are generally also some new areas, people and quests in the remakes. From what I've heard (and I'd believe it), most of the stuff has been rewritten, so it's not at all a word-for-word copy between remakes. ![]()
